Many years ago before the advent of tourism Koh Phangan earned its crust from agriculture - bananas, palms and rubber. The good sons were handed down the prime land in the centre of the island and the barren beaches were given to the least favourite sons.

Slowly tourists started coming to Koh Phangan searching for that lost paradise and so very basic bungalows started springing up.
